So what exactly are CAF Grants? CAF stands for Community Assistance Fund (CAF). These grants respond to the financial needs of many nonprofit organizations in Champaign-Urbana.
Why is CAF important to JLCU? CAF grants specifically are geared towards programs that are related to JLCU’s focus areas that include: child protection and welfare, families, health, hunger, literacy, shelter, school preparedness, volunteerism, and women.
The Spring 2015 CAF Grant Recipients were awarded to the following organizations for their causes:
- The Reading Group was awarded $400 for children’s nooks for older children who read below their grade level.
- Dream Girls Academy was awarded $950 for curriculum for girls’ 6th grade+ to foster life-long learning and the prevention of domestic violence and child abuse.
- Girls on the Run (Stephens Family YMCA) was awarded $140 for curriculum books designed to help girls grades 3 through 5 with life skills.
