This year marks the 20th annual Festival of Trees event. Over the years, Junior League of Champaign Urbana has raised a grand total of $2.16 million from this event. Proceeds raised at Festival of Trees are used for community grants and programs benefiting children and families in the Champaign-Urbana area. Our sponsors put together themed trees, wreaths, and gift baskets for the festival which are raffled or auctioned-off during the weekend.
Festival of Trees will take place on Saturday, November 21—Sunday, November 22. Public hours will be from 8 a.m. –6 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. –3 p.m. on Sunday. There are still a few volunteer shifts open, so if you have the availability, please sign up and help make sure the event is a success! We couldn’t do it without you!
We will have 17 different raffle packages this year, including an American Girl “Doll of the Year”, a ticket package for the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, an Idina Menzel signed “Frozen” microphone, a Kindle Paperwhite, a ticket package for the Champaign-Urbana Nutcracker, jewelry & beauty gift sets, Ebert Film Festival passes, and much, much more. Our traditional “wine tree” will be available by silent auction, and a grand total of 25 trees and 17 wreaths will be available by raffle.
For the first time, we are hosting a “Brunch with Santa & Mrs. Claus” on Saturday, November 21 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. This event is designed for the whole family and will feature a story time, the opportunity to take photos with Santa & Mrs. Claus, and a craft activity. We will also have some special raffle items exclusively for the brunch, including an Illini Hockey ticket package, passes to the Urbana Park District Aquatic Center, and a hardback copy of “A Wish to Be a Christmas Tree” (the book Mrs. Claus will read to the children). Santa & Mrs. Claus will also be available for photos at Festival of Trees public hours on Sunday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Help us keep the tradition alive and kick-off the season with a festive event that helps support a great cause: women building better communities by building dreams and changing lives!
